A T210 tradition for 35 years continues........ This
is our ONLY troop fundraiser and all scouts should participate.

We will meet in the parking lot to distribute
announcement flyers for our upcoming Luminary deliveries. This will go very
quickly if we have lots of participation because all we need to do is rubber
band the flyers to mailboxes. There are over 700 addresses on our route - which
is primarily Sturdivant Street - so we need all the help we can get! This is the only fund raiser for the
troop, so everyone needs to participate!

On the 6st and 13th we will be distributing the
kits and sand. The more scouts and parents we have, the faster this will go
each day.

Trek
On December 1, Rob
Clites, Troop 210 alum and Eagle Scout will be presenting on his bicycle trek
across the US. It will be really cool, so don’t miss this event.
Christmas
Tree Unloading
FYI, the Methodist Men are our sponsoring organization at the church and a portion of the money generated from the tree sales has been donated to T210 for years. Only 150 trees are coming this year so it should go pretty fast. Should only take 1-2 hours to unload the trees. The more people who show up, the faster it goes.
It will count as a troop activity and community service. Let’s meet at the church annex this Saturday at 1 to unload the trees.
Troop Treasurer Announcement
To Old Goats and other Troop 210 parents, please remember to keep your company matching programs in mind for gifts to the troop. Since many companies will not match a donation to a religious organization (for example White Plains United Methodist Church), you can still donate to Troop 210 and have it matched by sending your contribution to the address below. The council will forward a check to Troop 210 in their next scheduled check run after they receive the donation.

CREW NEWS
Wild Game and Veggie Feast
Venture Crew 210 held their annual Wild Game and Veggie Feast on November 1 and 2 at Harris Lake. Crew members prepared Pheasant Pot Pie, Grilled Quail, Vegetarian Chili, Jalapeno & Cheddar Corn Bread, and Pineapple & Cherry Dump Cake. The next cooking challenge being planned is the Crew's own version of the Iron Chef. Who says High Adventure and Gourmet Cooking doesn't go hand-in-hand? Yes, we have even pulled off a gourmet oriental one pot meal on a weekend backpacking trip. Shopping at the Asian Market alone was an adventure!
AT Thru- Hike Preparation
Knew that would grab your attention! Crew member are preparing to hit the AT in a big way in 2009 not your typical week long event but 2175 miles of smooth down hill adventure. Now if you believe all of this I have some deals for you. Seriously, Katie Ackerman, one of our female leaders and REI employee is preparing for a thru-hike in 2009 with plans to depart Springer Mountain, Georgia in March and head to Maine.
Some time in early 2009 the Crew will announce plans for our annual AT Trek - typically 35 - 50 mile NOT 2175! Troop members ages 14 and up, weigh at least 100 pounds, have Mr. Freeman's and Mr. Paige's permission will be extended an invitation. Other requirements will include participating in pre hike preparation meetings and a weekend shakedown backpacking trip.

Crosswinds District Award of
Merit
Please join me in congratulating Mike Burnette for being awarded the Crosswinds District Award of Merit.
This is the highest honor bestowed by BSA at the district level. Only 3 people are recognized each year. For over 10 years, Mike's leadership with Troop 210, Crew 210 and the District Order of the Arrow chapter has helped shape the lives of 100's of young men in the Cary area. Mike, thank you so much for all you do!
