Let’s start cooking!!!
Crosswinds District Camporee
Camp Reeves, April 25-27, 2008
Costs:
$5 cash for patrol food (bring Monday night)
$20 Check made out to Troop 210. This covers the camporee fee ($15), and lunch (camporee based activity requiring every patrol to have the exact same thing
$??? there will be a canteen open Saturday if you want to buy a soda or snack
NO CHARGE for pig picking -------- troop will cover costs.
Note:
- Bring the $20
for Camporee on Monday. Checks are preferred.
- Drivers ----- please sign up Monday night if you can help out.
- Co-Campmaster: Mike Burnette will be hauling the troop trailer.
- Co-Campmaster and Grubmaster: Kevin Mote
- Fred Adams will be hauling the pig cooker.
- Event coordinators: Adults will be help needed to help at the pioneering events. Please see Kevin Mote or Mike Burnette. We are doing Fire and Rain http://crosswinds.cary.nc.us/camporee/stations08.html
- Bring Bag Supper for Friday
- Wear your class A shirt on Friday, but don't forget class B!
- OA members needed for various activities throughout the day. See Sam Woodson, Marshall Sample or Alex Freeman if you can help out.
- A canteen or Nalgene bottle for Saturday is a smart thing to bring.
- Bug spray and Sunscreen are good ideas too.

Explain program event execution guidelines and rules,
Q&A opportunity. Finalize logistics.
Troop OA Representatives to meet and plan support for OA run events.
9:15 PM SCOUTMASTER, SENIOR PATROL LEADER, & OA Representative Meeting
Only one adult and two Scouts per unit. Explanation of camporee rules, patrol deployment for activities, last minute agenda changes, Q&A opportunity - "CRACKER BARREL"

CLEAN UP CAMP SITES - PACKING & LOADING GEAR TO DEPART. (SCOUTMASTER OR ASSIGNED TROOP LEADER TO DELIVER SITE MARKERS, PICK UP CAMPOREE ENVELOPES AND SIGN TROOP OUT)
11:30 am - arrive at White Plains UMC
Directions:
- Take
US-1 south from Raleigh past Sanford to the US-15/501 exit to Carthage and
Pinehurst (you will see the Regal Inn on your right just before you exit
to the right).
- Take
US-15/501 South to the outskirts of Carthage where the speed limit drops
to 35 mph (enforced!).
- Where
15/501 veers left and continues to Pinehurst, you will continue to head
straight (west) where NC-24/27 peels off into Carthage.
- Continue
into town until you reach a traffic circle which goes around the town’s
courthouse.
- Turn
right and go halfway around the traffic circle (as if you had gone
straight through the courthouse) and continue on NC-24/27 to the outskirts
of town.
- After
you have passed a couple of convenience markets and a graveyard on your
right, you will come to a “Y” intersection where you will turn left onto
Bethlehem Church Rd. (On your right will be a green highway information
sign with “Occoneechee Scout Camps” and an arrow pointing the way). What
used to be an old gas station will be on your left in the “Y”. You will
come to a very sharp curve almost immediately after turning ... go slow!
- After
about 8 miles of twisting country road, you will come to a stop sign.
- After
stopping, go through the intersection for less than a mile.
- On
your left you will pass a brick Methodist church before coming to the
service entrance to Camp Durant.
- The
entrance to Durant is about a half-mile further on the left.
- Go
past this entrance for another half mile to the entrance of Camp Reeves
Eagle ceremony
May 4th is Marshall's eagle ceremony at the site of his Eagle project,
the Ruritan Park, 100 Morrisville Carpenter Road, Morrisville. Time is 2pm

· Parents, if you would like to help the troop, but not on a weekly basis, please come and see me. I always have upcoming projects that are one time events that need coordination and assistance.
· Info will be coming out soon on Cape Lookout, which is May 17-18
History of the Troop 210 Patch
Every year I am asked where
the troop logo on the neckerchief came from. It was designed over 25 years ago
by one of Roger Lear's sons. Some think
it is due to my bias for UNC. While it is true that I am a UNC alum and fan, I
must admit I am not that creative!

Summer Camp Information
Troop 210 will
be going to Camp Raven Knob and Ottari this summer. Below is detailed information:
· If you want to see the merit badge offerings,
we will have those available soon for Ottari.
· For CRK, it is fastest to look at the

Venture Crew
News
Crew 210 held a 12 mile
shakedown backpacking trip to the Uwharrie Mountains April 12 - 13. All reports
indicate that the overnighter was a success. This was the first backpacking
trip for many of the Crew members and all left tired but excited about the
upcoming AT trip. Of course no trip is complete without side trips to
BOJANGLES; however, the Crew also enjoyed freshly baked blueberry scones made by
our President Lauren B.

District 2008 NYLT
The date for next year’s NYLT are August 3-9 2008: before
this program can take place we need staff, adult and youth, we need older youth
staff that have attended the old council JLT and those that have attended the
latest NYLT, but we will consider anyone recommended by their unit leader. For more information and details please
