March 2008
Troop News
ATTENTION SCOUTS!!
So you think you can outrun an OLD GOAT???
Run with me and find out!
I was thinking of a way to not put extra weight on over the holidays and to get those in my Personal Fitness merit badge class motivated in this off-season for sports and I came up with this.
I am planning on running in the Cary Road
Race April 12, 2008 (5K).
Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park
10K, 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run
2008 Schedule of
Events
7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Race Day Registration and Packet Pick-up
8:30 a.m. Start of 10K Race
9:45 a.m. Start of 5K Race
10:30 a.m. Start of 1 Mile Fun Run
Awards presented 30 minutes after the finish of each race
This leaves at least 5 months for training to build up for the Cary Road Race.
It would help all of you increase your endurance, speed and decrease stress, whether you choose to walk the 5k or run it. Here are some websites with great information on how to get started along with some nutritional information.
I sincerely hope that you and your family choose to participate in one or more of the programs below, it is within reach and the best gift you can give yourself and your family!

Scoutmaster Notes on Scouting for Food
Program
Scouts,
Scouters, Parents....... I need everyone to step up to the plate on this.
If
each family volunteered to help just one of the 2 days, we'd knock this out in
a 2-3 hours each day.
Remember
the Scout slogan is,
"Do a good turn daily"
Now it's your turn.......
ATTENTION SCOUTERS AND PARENTS
Troop 210
will be participating in the district SCOUTING FOR FOOD program in April.
This service project will be scheduled very similar to the Luminary
service project and DOES COUNT toward service hours. Here's how it works:
· On Sat., Apr. 5, Scouts will deliver grocery bags with a note explaining the food drive to the same houses we sell luminaries. On Sat., Apr. 12, Scouts will return to these homes and collect food at each house.
· We are aware that Apr. 5 is during traditional school spring break, but feel we should have enough folks in town to carry out the project. We will start at 9:00 am and should be done by noon.
· We are also aware that the Cary Road Race is on Apr. 12. However, if you want to participate in the race, please come to the church afterwards and help us out as you are available. We will start at 10:00 am and will end when all bags have been collected and unloaded.
· Food collected will be used to stock up the White Plains food pantry, then once it's full, the rest of the food will be taken to WITH LOVE FROM JESUS. We are very fortunate to have the Searcher's Sunday School class of White Plains helping us out with delivery to WITH LOVE FROM JESUS.
We need everyone who is available to participate. We need parents to drive, Scouts to deliver bags and pick up food, and parents and scouts to help with weighing the food and helping sort food for the WP's food pantry. EVERYONE's help is appreciated!
So, mark your calendars and get ready for this very important community wide project! RSVP to Pam Willard by March 30 the number of family members participating on each Saturday, and if you are an adult, please let me know if you can drive! You may e-mail RSVP's to bpjwill@aol.com.
Questions? Please call Pam Willard at 469-8382.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!
